Here's why trying to follow the habits of successful people you Googled or the newest self-care trends your friend is obsessed with haven’t solved all your issues: doing and sticking with the self-care you hear about is way more complicated than just knowing what you should do.
The good news?
It’s not your fault, and it’s not because you don’t have enough WILLPOWER or because your body is against you.
Trying to change your life all at once is enough to make anyone give up regardless of how motivated you may feel at the start.
The secret is that it’s not about having enough motivation, but getting clear on the RIGHT motivation…your life purpose or your dharma (as well as truly understanding WHY your previous attempts to change didn’t work).
Why do I know this? Because I've been there, too.

You're not alone in this – I've been there too.
Before I truly became my own health ally (instead of constantly feeling like my body was against me), I was super stressed out at work, 15 pounds heavier, didn’t know how to advocate for myself, and hiding chronic pain and digestive issues that never seemed to leave me alone.
It wasn't as if I hadn't tried to "fix" what was happening. I tried different workouts, I ate extra vegetables, I took probiotics, I limited starches, I counted calories, I read countless wellness blogs and magazine articles... but it didn't matter. In fact, it got worse. I became anorexic to try to control my body and then binge-ate because I couldn't satisfy my hunger. My body revolted at the abuse, and eventually I got diagnosed with IBS and fibromyalgia.
I realized it was time to make a change.
I had been treating my body like it was an enemy, like something I needed to control because it was out of control. You could say it was a "me versus me" scenario.
Through meditation, journaling, yoga, and mantra work, I finally understood that my body wasn't attacking me but desperately trying to communicate with my brain…and my brain just hadn’t been listening.
My body wasn't sick but working hard to be healthy.
Once I finally tuned in, I learned how to interpret what my body was trying to tell me as well as how to implement healthful practices (from the food I ate to how I moved to the way I thought about myself) to regain balance.
Along the way, I developed recipes that met my cravings for pasta, pizza, and other trigger foods, so I didn't feel deprived while eliminating inflammatory foods like gluten, dairy, soy, added sugar, and onions (among others) from my diet.
I also discovered that my calling in life, or dharma, is to help other busy women (like you!) who have stress, digestive issues, pain, sleep, self-doubt, or other issues ditch the drama and confusion and finally feel vibrant too.
Through all these slow, sustainable changes, I was not only able to gain a balance I never thought possible, but I also shed extra weight, built strength, increased flexibility, reduced my overall pain and digestive issues, learned to understand my body, and came to love myself just as I was at every phase of my journey.
