Sound Healing Meditation

Certain vibrational sounds are incredibly healing for the mind, body, and spirit. 

In fact, according to research by board certified oncologist Dr. Mitchell Gaynor for his book The Healing Power of Sound, sounds like those from a quartz crystal bowl and a Tibetan Singing Bowl (like the ones in this video) can lower blood pressure, reduce levels of the stress hormone cortisol, and even aid in combatting the negative affects from chemo.

So, put on your headphones, find a comfortable position laying down or in a supported seat, and listen away. You can practice with your eyes opened or closed. Try both and see what you prefer. Once comfortable, press play and practice breathing into the belly. Imagine the sounds filling up your entire body.

And if you think about it...since the human body is made up of 60-70% water, and water is a great conductor for sound, the vibrations really do travel through your whole body!
